When we were driving into the SF area for the first time, it was well past lunch and we were on the final leg of a 26 hour drive. I knew C Casa needed to be the first stop.
I had heard of C Casa from several GF blogs and apps. C Casa is a dedicated gluten-free restaurant with several locations in the Bay Area. The first location we tried was in San Ramon at the Shops At Bishop Ranch. This is a shopping/eating center that has plenty of options. We’ve also tried Salt and Straw and Bamboo Sushi (which will be linked here to other blog posts) at Bishop Ranch.
One huge plus about the area, is that there is free parking. It gets really busy, so I’d recommend the parking garage on the far end.
C Casa is a short walk from the garage. We sat outside and they had a fire going. Now, we’re from Nebraska and it was 50 degrees in San Ramon so the fire seemed unnecessary, but it did keep us quite warm.
C Casa has a pretty expansive menu with multiple vegetarian and vegan options. We tried the carnitas taco (C style — which means it’s really full and you can’t really pick it up. I ate it with a fork) and the new baja style fish tacos. The portions are smaller, but the flavors were amazing.
We’ve also visited the C Casa location at the Public Market in Emeryville. This public market has like 18 different dining locations inside. They’re all to-go vibes and there is shared tables throughout. Here, we tried the nachorizos which has pico de gallo, guacamole, black beans, chipotle aioli, avocado crema, and cilantro. It also has a chorizo queso sauce, which I got on the side so I wouldn’t eat so much cheese, but this queso was to-die-for.
Both locations had a fun and casual atmosphere that made for a great dining experience.
